Simple Parasite Cleansing
The idea of parasite cleansing conjures up a whole ‘host’ (yes, I will hopefully continue to be punny this entire blog post) of reactions from the masses. People seem uncomfortable with the fact that most of us have worms inside us just like most other living organisms on this earth. Sometimes discussing or thinking about bowel movements makes people squirmy and embarrassed? Well, we all poop, we all digest, we all want health…So it makes this topic worth talking and knowing about.
There are almost as many kinds of cleanses as there are worms. That can be overwhelming. Magpie offers a very simple, entry-level cleanse for ages 5 through adult. Pregnant women should not be parasite cleansing, and if breastfeeding, you should have a conversation first with your herbalist before beginning. We should be worming ourselves twice a year, in the spring and fall, just as we do our animals.
If you have never done a parasite cleanse before, Magpie Apothecary suggests taking Parasite Tincture for 30 days, 3x per day (different doses for kids and adults, see label or ask me!) Then every six months after that, as a maintenance protocol, a week-long cleanse. Magpie Apothecary’s tincture is simply made with Black Walnut Hulls. This is a gentle but effective cleanse, no fear of not being able to leave the house, but it will get the job done ;) Black Walnut Hulls have been used for centuries as a dewormer of tapeworms, pinworms, ringworms and is used as a treatment for candida. Black Walnut is used topically for ringworm, impetigo and eczema; make sure you stay the course on this, be prepared to apply for 2 weeks time. It is also known to help fevers of an unknown source. Black Walnut is an antifungal, antiparasitic, antiseptic, astringent, insecticide, laxative, and vermifuge.
If you have used this cleanse completely for an initial cleanse and and maintenance cleanse and still think you want more, I recommend RogersHood Apothecary. They have some deep and very detailed offerings that might make things pretty interesting.
The signs that you or your child might be infested with worms are several: itchy anus especially around the full moon, regular night time disturbances or grinding of teeth, asthma symptoms or increased mucus in throat every morning, stomach aches, joint pain, fatigue, fever, and if severe enough- weightloss. While on the cleanse, you will get better results if you are eating and drinking simply. Make sure to drink plenty of water, and stay away from rich and processed foods. The Magpie Apothecary Parasite Tincture cleanse cannot hurt, and most likely you do have worms, so make a move to start a new healthy habit. Order the Parasite Tincture today and schedule a reminder on your phone calendar to do it again in 6 months.
